MHST workers at stall at barnsley awareness week

Our practitioner Emma was at Barnsley Metrodome attending International Women’s Day an event organised by Barnsley Targeted Youth Support Service

Emma held a stall and spoke to young people from Barnsley Secondary schools, asking “As a young women, what do you feel the main influence on your mental health is?”

Last week was Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. The theme this year was “𝗠𝘆 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀”. And with this in mind we aimed to speak to as many children and young people so that we could hear their voice, and see what they feel is important to them regarding their own mental health.

We ran a number of lunch time sessions within schools asking children and young people at the end of their treatment sessions too.

Our Team Lead Louise delivered a presentation at last week’s SEN conference, with a focus on gaining an insight into our own behaviours and triggers and how we can widen our window of tolerance to support staff wellbeing! 👏

Our Healthy Peer Relationship Practitioner Kirsty was working hard delivering 4 assemblies to years 7, 8, 9 & 10 around Healthy Relationships at Darton Secondary. With over 1000 students reflecting on what makes a healthy peer relationship!

On Monday our lovely Lauren graduated from The University of Sheffield – having studied PG Diploma in Mental Health Practice in Education Settings! Everyone at Compass Be are very proud of her.
Here’s what Lauren had to say about her day… “I felt really proud to graduate and be able to officially celebrate completing the course and becoming a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner!”

What a fantastic 2023 we have had at Compass Be. Here’s to an incredible 2024 supporting more children, young people and families.

Rachel our Family Practitioner has just completed the Fear-Less Triple P programme with parents at Cawthorne Primary School. Rachel worked with Donna from Compass Wakefield to deliver this intervention.

The Fear Less Triple P Programme is an intervention that is given to parents / carers of children who suffer with anxiety. The programme helps parents learn new cognitive behavioural strategies and other techniques for anxiety management to improve the whole family’s coping skills.

Rachel and Donna where thanked today at their closing session with these parents and carers whom presented them with flowers, cards and kind words.

Both compass colleagues expressed that the group was an amazing group of parents who showed some much warmth and empathy towards others.

Our Healthy Peer Relationships Practitioner attended the bullying, harassment and online harms subgroup which is a group of professionals from across the Barnsley borough working together to support children, young people and professionals in all 3 areas. The group have collated young people’s voices and worries around online harms and created a resource that will be shared with Designated Safeguarding Leads and leads in school to promote to their CYP.
