BARNSLEY MHST has successfully launched new support group The Climb after months of preparation.
The new parent/carer group is led by our family practitioner Rachel Musgrave and supported by a new parent peer volunteer, as well as our assistant EMHP Thompson Charuma.
Rachel said: “A big part of this group is the vision of the parent volunteer, as she has lived experience regarding children with mental health problems.”
Monthly meetings would focus on parent/carers who support children with mental health problems.
Rachel added: “It allows the parents and carers to connect. “Being able to communicate with the parents also gives us a greater understanding of how we can bridge the gap from both the parents and children’s perspectives to better our service.”
