We at Compass Phoenix are delighted to offer a new range of online webinar training packages to schools across North Yorkshire.

The new training packages are as follows:

In addition, we have loads of bitesize ‘Phoenix Features’ (short recorded webinars) which cover a range of mental health presentations and offer helpful advice and practical tools.

Compass Phoenix Level 2 Training - Early Identification of Need (Part 1) This training is for staff who have received our level 1 - Prevention and Promotion training. This is part 1 please also book for part 2 which is on the 05.06.2024 at 3pm We ask schools to select specific members of staff who will be able to assess need and deliver interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

Our level 2 training will offer the following:
A deeper understanding of emotions
Knowledge of common mental health disorders
Tips for dealing with mental health concerns
Information on our BUZZ US service
As a result of our Level 2 training we hope to provide professionals with:
Awareness of how all emotions are healthy and needed
An understanding of common Mental Health Disorders
Knowledge of behaviours that may present as a result of a mental health problem
Practical advice on what you can do to support someone feel more comfortable to speak about a mental health problem
Awareness of how to signpost the BUZZ US service

Understanding Challenging Behaviours in School This training looks to increase understanding of managing challenging behaviours in school. This will be achieved by looking at the following areas:
• What is challenging behaviour?
• Child’s perspective
• Making a positive impact
• Emotional self-regulation and co-regulation

The aim of the training is to support professionals to:
• understand what challenging behaviour is and the impact it can have on all involved – including the child’s perspective.
• gain skills, knowledge & confidence to manage our own responses and to support the child to develop better coping skills.

As a result of this training, we hope to provide professionals with:
• An increase in knowledge and empowerment to support children & young people who demonstrate challenging behaviours
• Increased confidence in managing challenging behaviours in school
• How to access support and resources that can be used with children & young people

Pupil Wellbeing Champions Training (for Primary Schools) he Pupil Wellbeing Champions training has been developed to enable colleagues in primary school education in North Yorkshire to prepare for the introduction of a pupil wellbeing programme in their school. It is designed to ensure that school staff feel confident in how to train and support pupil wellbeing champions in order to ensure sustainability of the programme.
The ideal candidate for the primary wellbeing champions training will be the person / people who will be the coordinator/s in you school and who will be accountable and responsible for the wellbeing champion programme.

The staff workshop and provided resources will:
Help you to establish and embed a pupil wellbeing champion programme in your setting
Support you in identifying key roles and responsibilities
Provide support and guidance on managing issues around confidentiality and safeguarding
Promote wellbeing awareness at individual/population level
Provide top tips to introducing a pupil wellbeing champion programme
