Compass Bloom has taken on eight new frontline MHST staff members, enabling it to work in more schools in West and Central Lancashire.
The expansion of the service to cover more schools in its area follows the allocation of additional funding from Lancashire County Council.
Lisa Gale, Compass’s Assistant Director Operations (North), said: “Our new colleagues will allow us to expand and support more children and young people across more schools in the Chorley, West Lancs, South Ribble and Preston areas.”
The new MHST staff will be ready to support nine new schools and a total of 6,256 pupils after completing their training in 2024 at Edge Hill University.
Until then, last year’s cohort of trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioners who become fully qualified in March, will support the additional school and college communities.
Lisa said: “It’s very exciting to know that our service can now support young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health more than ever before.
“We are extremely proud to do this vital work for our communities and grateful to Lancashire’s local authority, who provided the funding.”
