Two members of staff at Compass Phoenix delivered on-line training to as many as 200 North Yorkshire schools staff in a single day.

Alice Sotirchos and Pip Nix delivered three sessions to schools on Prevention and promotion of the whole school approach, Supporting children and young people to cope with stress and  anxiety and Supporting them to regulate their emotions and conduct.

Alice said: “Pip and I delivered an epic day of training for many schools in North Yorkshire. A total of 137 individuals attended, but there were many more staff in the background so we think approximately 200 school staff all in all.

“We were absolutely delighted with both the uptake and response to our sessions. Some schools attended all three sessions, while others selected one or two to suit their current needs.”

Alice enthused: “This training day was such a success, we hope to have a similar one in April.

“The staff who attended really enjoyed the day and the most powerful thing is that we empowered them to practically implement their learning over the coming weeks and months, with access to our free Professional Consultation service if they feel that they would benefit from further help to support specific children, young people or groups within their schools.

Our Values shone through

And Alice added: “The day very much exercised all of our Compass Values!

“Our integrity allowed us to deliver honest and meaningful training of a high quality. We looked to overcome the inevitable tech gremlins through being solution focused.

“We were consistent and reliable through our commitment to meeting the needs of all in attendance. And lastly we valued every single staff member who took the time to attend our training as well as Pip and I valuing and supporting each other on the day.”

Feedback from staff who attended

“Really helpful illustrations and imagery and practical advice. Equipped to help young people understand their own anxiety and stress.”

“Some very interesting ideas and concepts which can be carried forward within the school setting.”

“Fantastic session, great resource, well delivered. brilliant teachers on all three sessions. lots of information to take away and process and put into practice. Thank you.”

“The ability of Pip and Alice to keep things moving at a good pace was excellent, preventing boredom from setting in and the brain switching off. Very well paced, good response to comments and generally knowledgeable.”

“Lovely pair of ladies, very friendly, explanations were easy to understand and power points set out brilliantly.”

“Great bubbly, experienced people who made the training a joy. Lovely to know that further support is out there.”

“For our school, it is an area that we are keen to develop so, when I saw the email with your courses, I was keen to book training to extend the expertise of our existing staff and ensure our new staff are aware of the issues. We have a number of children who need support, and the number has increased since before the pandemic. Also, we have been impressed by the training that we have received in the past from Compass.”

“I think this is a combination of your high quality service, it being free and it being on a training day. All our staff were so impressed with the session so thanks so much.”
