About us

Compass is a values based organisation whose mission is to create healthier lives and safer communities. We are passionate about making a real difference to individuals and improving health outcomes in local areas.

Commissioned by Tower Hamlets Council, this a highly innovative service which delivers a range of universal, targeted and specialist health and wellbeing interventions to young people across Tower Hamlets. The evidenced based interventions address young people’s support needs with regards to two strands of service care focused around sexual health and substance use, and any associated risky behaviour, in order to improve health and wellbeing.

About the role

Compass Safe East has a hub and spoke model, which means you will engage with young people from our clinical hub based in Whitechapel plus a range of medical and youth club spokes across Tower Hamlets.  Holding a caseload of young people presenting with needs across the above two strands of service care, Health and Wellbeing Workers will offer a holistic service with an accessible no wrong door approach. In working with your caseload, you will operate on an outreach basis, and will be responsible for delivery of the service within co-locations such as: schools, Youth Justice Service and youth clubs. You will also support the engagement and participation work within the service which includes registering young people on the c-card scheme, delivery and development of workshops/teaching sessions within schools/colleges and delivering training for professionals.  You will take an integrated approach to your work, addressing needs that relate to healthy relationships/sexual health, drug and alcohol use, smoking cessation and any associated risky behaviour.  You will help to promote the service across pharmacies as part of “You’re Welcome” including GP practices, schools, colleges, youth clubs etc. We also cover outreach events and public health campaigns which you will lead on within your allocated spokes, co-locations and across the local community.

Working hours will be Monday – Friday, 21 hours per week, which will include at least one evening per week and Saturdays on a monthly rota.
