Type: Full time (37 hours)

Do you have the experience and passion to ensure that we improve the lives of vulnerable and at risk children and young people in Warwickshire?

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Health & Wellbeing Engagement Worker to join our Warwickshire Children and Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Service (WCYPDAS).

About us

Recommissioned by Public Health Warwickshire in 2018, Compass Warwickshire CYPDAS provides countywide support for children and young adults up to the age of 25 who are at an increased vulnerability to misusing substances or have been affected by another’s substance use.

We provide a highly innovative approach to delivering a range of interventions to ‘at risk’ and priority groups of children and young people (e.g. CLA, young carers, NEET, truants/excludees and children affected by parental substance misuse, mental health and domestic violence and abuse).

About the role

As a Health & Wellbeing Engagement Worker, you will operate on an outreach basis across Warwickshire, delivering services within co-locations including schools, colleges, social care, youth clubs and community locations. Taking direction from the Health & Wellbeing Workers, you will support universal health promotion including delivery of PSHE in schools and at youth clubs, facilitating information assemblies, supporting assertive outreach, supporting service user and young people’s engagement, and representing Compass at community events.

You will work closely with practitioners to engage, re-engage, follow up and advocate for young people who are ambivalent to change or have barriers to engagement based on vulnerabilities or coming from a hard to reach group.

You will also work alongside the Administrator to provide administrative assistance as well as supporting the digital engagement functions of the service, including responding to contacts via the web portal and keeping digital information up to date and engaging.

The role involves some evening and weekend working.

The person

You should be driven to engage children, young people, families and communities in preventative messages which promote healthier lifestyle choices. You are confident, with strong communication skills, adaptable to different styles of delivery and audiences.

You have experience of working with young people with additional needs in a community setting, along with a passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes. Your experience and enthusiasm will ensure you are able to establish, maintain and develop working relationships with key partners.

Possession of a full UK driving licence and access to transport is essential.

The benefits

In return, we offer a range of benefits including:

  • Generous annual leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme and OH Service
  • Eye tests for VDU users
  • Excellent Learning & Development opportunities and career progression
  • Generous contributory Pension Scheme

To apply, you will need to download and complete our application form. We would be grateful if you could also complete our equality monitoring form. CV’s will not usually be accepted.

Closing date: Sunday 18th August

Interviews to be held in Rugby on Thursday 29th August 2019

Compass is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults and you should share our commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We value diversity at Compass and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
