We have an exciting opportunity for a Young People’s Substance Misuse Practitioner to join our young people’s service in Milton Keynes.
Our service has been providing structured and targeted interventions to young people engaging in, or at risk of substance misuse, for the last 12 years.
As a Young People’s Substance Misuse Practitioner, you will work on an outreach basis across Milton Keynes, visiting schools, children’s family practices, youth clubs and other venues, in order to provide interventions to young people.
You will deliver 1:1 and group work interventions as well as targeted outreach to engage hard to reach young people. In addition, you will deliver professional workforce development packages to partner agencies.
Normal working days are Mon-Fri with some evening, weekend and bank holiday working as required.
You will be solution focused, creative and committed to helping young people and families make positive lifestyle choices. You will have previous experience of delivering drug and alcohol interventions to clients on a 1:1 basis, with a good knowledge of cognitive behavioural interventions. The ability to prioritise your workload is essential in order to manage high case-loads, complete written work to a high standard and support the targeted functions of the service.
You will need to safeguard young people and have knowledge of legislation, including Fraser Guidelines for assessing competency.
You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
