Training

A healthy and happy workforce is everyone’s responsibility.

We draw from our knowledge and expertise of delivering public health interventions to children, young people, adults, and families to address health and wellbeing issues and their lived experiences.

As a result, we take the learning from people’s lived experiences and incorporate into practical tools and tips within our training modules to help upskill others. Bespoke training packages are developed based on organisation needs and mainly delivered directly to:

  • The service user and/or employed staff on behalf of the organization
  • To professionals who put their learning into practice and embed new skills within their role and responsibilities

Types of courses

Our courses are developed to support your team across a range of roles within your organisation:

  • Health and wellbeing awareness covering a number of lifestyle topics
  • First line supervisor/middle management of staff health and wellbeing
  • Senior leadership and a whole business approach to health and wellbeing
  • Train the trainer courses to enable suitably qualified and competent trainers to deliver topical modules to their staff
  • Topical wellbeing modules include a wide range of subjects that can impact on people’s health and wellbeing.

Positive Effect training modules are both CPD and CPC verified and open to any organisation with employees around the UK. The following modules are currently available:

Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing Awareness module – CPC (1 Day)

This module is designed to look at how delegates achieve and maintain positive mental health and wellbeing including how it affects behaviour, and ability to fulfil role, responsibilities and management of emergency situations. Delegates will have increased knowledge, understanding and awareness of practical steps to prevent mental ill-health, improve wellbeing and practical strategies to put into action.

Prescribed Medication, Alcohol, Smoking and Drugs Awareness module – CPC (1 Day)

This module is designed to inform delegates of the health implications substances such as prescribed medication, alcohol, tobacco and drugs can have.  Delegates will receive knowledge on the harm different substances can cause, how dependency develops as well as practical advice and support in where to seek support in relation to cutting down and stopping their use.

Stress and sleep CPC (1 Day)

Awareness of stress and its effects on the body including practical suggestions on how to manage stress. Advice on healthy sleep and its impact on health along with guidance on where to gain further support regarding these concerns.                                                                            

Diet and Exercise CPC (1 Day)

Practical guidance on making positive choices around diet, information and advice on exercise and the affects these both have on our health and wellbeing.

Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing Awareness Training – CPD (1 Day)

Provides essential 1 day training to enhance delegate’s knowledge and understanding of: Mental health; The impact of stigma; How we can support our own mental health; Practical tips to support our wellbeing and lifestyle behaviours; How we can support other with their mental health

Positive mental health and wellbeing Workshop – CPD (2.5 hours)

Provides essential knowledge and understanding of mental health, stigma, support and wellbeing for the whole workforce. 

Prescribed Medication; Alcohol; Tobacco And Drugs Awareness Training – CPD

Provides essential training to empower delegates knowledge and understanding of: Prescribed medication and its affects when taken not as prescribed; The effects of alcohol; Tobacco and stop smoking support; Commonly used drugs and their affects; How to offer support to a family member or friend.

Stress and sleep CPD (1 Day)

Awareness of stress and its effects on the body including practical suggestions on how to manage stress. Advice on healthy sleep and its impact on health along with guidance on where to gain further support on regarding these concerns.

Managing Mental Health and Wellbeing CPD (1 Day)

This training will enable delegates to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in managing, recognising and supporting staff members mental health and wellbeing.

Directing Mental Health and Wellbeing CPD (3 hour workshop)

Workshop providing senior managers knowledge on the need for an organisation to improve staff wellbeing through culture, policy and practice

Promoting mental Health and Wellbeing CPD (Peer Champions) (2.5 hour workshop)

Workshop providing staff members with the knowledge and understanding to promote wellbeing, reduce and create a positive culture towards mental health within their organisation

School Packages

School Mental Health and Wellbeing Foundation Training-Prevention and Promotion (2.5hours)

Prevention and Promotion aims to empower all school staff to develop skills and build confidence; thus enabling them to improve and strengthen the support children and young people receive in relation to their mental health and wellbeing.

School Mental Health and Wellbeing Advanced Training-Early Identification on Need and Intervention (2 days)

Our advanced school Mental Health and Wellbeing level of training, Early Identification of Need and Intervention, is for those staff selected by the school who wish to assess need and acquire evidence-based tools to deliver interventions for mild to moderate mental Health concerns.

We deliver face to face training modules on the following topics:

  • Positive mental health
  • Wellbeing awareness
  • Drugs, alcohol and prescribed medication
  • Risk taking behaviours
  • Medicines management for education professionals with statutory responsibility for managing children’s health conditions
