The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Health & Wellbeing Nurse Team Leader within Lewisham Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Service.

About us

The Lewisham YPHWB Service is a new and highly innovative service commissioned by the London Borough of Lewisham and Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group to deliver a range of universal, targeted and specialist health and wellbeing interventions to young people aged 10-19 (up to 25 years  with SEND) who are resident , GP registered or attending school in the Borough of Lewisham. The evidenced based interventions delivered will focus on three strands of care specific to young people’s risk taking behaviours; risky sexual behaviour, substance misuse and  poor mental health and emotional health. The service will provide education and prevention, early help and specialist support using a blend of face to face and on line digital interventions (secure messaging service, guided self help, online counselling and themed live chat) to maximise access and choice.

The service aim is to create an integrated and easily accessible service that enables young people to manage their own health and wellbeing either independently or with support to reduce the likelihood of escalation to specialist services at a later date.

About the role

As a Nurse Team Leader your role will be to lead on safe and effective delivery of clinical interventions including medicines management for oral contraception and chlamydia treatment, pregnancy and STI testing. You will provide group and 1-1 clinical supervision to the skill mix team made up of nurses, counsellors, workers and support workers, supported by the service manager and clinical administrator, and support the service manager with day to day operational requirements including resource allocation and safeguarding.

You will provide professional consultation across the wider children and families network across Lewisham including workforce development training for health promotion.

It is anticipated that the role will have an 80/20 split of management responsibility and front line caseload activities in order to maintain competency levels and support revalidation.

You will work across the Borough of Lewisham from the clinical base in Catford and outreach at various co-locations and peripatetic sites for front line activities, and working closely with partner agencies ensure equitable service delivery to all young people, in particular those from vulnerable groups.
