The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Link Workers within our Milton Keynes Adult Substance Misuse Service.

About us

Compass works in communities currently within the Midlands, Yorkshire and London providing innovative and integrated health and wellbeing services for children, young people and adults. Our Specialist directorate is made up of pioneering risk taking behaviour and early help services for vulnerable children and young people/adults, and specialist substance misuse services for young people and adults. Our Universal and Targeted directorate provides transformational school aged healthy child programmes and prevention services. Over the past 5 years our portfolio has undergone significant expansion to deliver services that focus on a broader lifestyles agenda – substance misuse, sexual health, mental health and emotional wellbeing, and healthy relationships.

Compass delivers the Adult and Young People’s contract in Milton Keynes; the adult service is a large integrated drug and alcohol service providing all elements of the treatment system.

About the role

You will work as a lead in Milton Keynes hospital. The post will be mobile, working from the service hub, co-locations and peripatetic sites including, Milton Keynes hospital and other services to:

  • Provide a holistic package of care to individuals which meets their needs and includes diversionary activities and employment, training and education
  • Carry out targeted outreach to engage and re-engage service users
  • Provide harm reduction advice and interventions including screening for BBV’s and facilitating Naloxone and overdose workshops

The Person

You will have detailed knowledge of all forms of substance misuse treatment and experience of:

  • Developing relationships with key partners

  • Working with a diverse client group

  • Supporting people with complex needs including substance misuse, mental health and safeguarding
