An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Team Leader to join our new School Mental Health and Wellbeing Service in North Yorkshire.

The New Compass North Yorkshire School Mental Health and Wellbeing Project will work with front line staff and key partners in schools across North Yorkshire to increase the skills, confidence and competence of staff by delivering a rolling training programme, conducting an audit of each school’s needs, providing professional consultation, expert advice and guidance, through coaching and mentoring front line staff and by promoting ‘whole school approach’ and the Academic Resilience Programme.

The service will also deliver time limited structured one-to-one interventions and co-deliver targeted group work to children and young people up to the aged 5 - 18 (25 with SEN) with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

The service will work closely with Compass REACH Risk Taking Behaviour Service as well as other key partner agencies via co-locations and outreach working to provide an equitable service throughout the county.

The Team Leader will be responsible for managing the day to day running of the service and a team of Wellbeing Workers and Specialist administrator. Supported by a Service Manager who will have managerial responsibility of both the new School Mental Health and Wellbeing Service and our existing Compass REACH risk taking behaviour service, key responsibilities will include:

  • Line management of Wellbeing Workers (8) and a Specialist Administrator

  • Activity allocation and oversight of activities

  • Contract compliance and performance management

  • Building and maintaining of key partnerships

  • Representing the service at key meetings including contract monitoring

  • Ensuring adequate resources across the county including covering training delivery where necessary.

The post requires someone with experience in managing similar services in children and young people or health and social care settings. You will be passionate about improving the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people and will have a proven track record of building sustainable partnerships and ensuring excellent care.

The service covers the whole of North Yorkshire, with bases in the Craven, Harrogate, Selby, Hambleton and Richmondshire and Scarborough, Ryedale districts.
