We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Nurse Team Leader to join our team of dedicated professionals as part of a truly innovative and responsive service that is committed to improving young people’s long-term health and emotional wellbeing.

About us

Compass REACH is a nurse-led service that delivers evidence-based psychosocial interventions to children and young people aged 9 – 19 (up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) who live in North Yorkshire.

We are a specialist young people’s drug and alcohol treatment provider for young people who have been screened as having moderate or high levels of need with regard to substance misuse/alcohol.  We also work with children and young people who may benefit from receiving early help and prevention work in relation to emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.

The team also offers support to existing service users around sexual health matters.

The service works closely with Compass BUZZ (School Mental Health and Wellbeing Project) as well as other key partner agencies such as specialist CAMHS, Prevention Service and Healthy Child Service (HCS) via co-locations and outreach working.

About the role

As Nurse Team Leader, you will manage and coordinate a team of Young People’s Nurses and Practitioners, providing clinical advice and guidance to the team.

You will be responsible for contributing to the overall development and performance of the service to ensure that contractual requirements and quality assurance standards are achieved, as well as overseeing the provision of the service on a day-to-day basis, with support from the Service Manager. You will also be expected to hold a small caseload.

You will operate out of one of the Prevention HUBs in North Yorkshire. You will need to possess a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle as you will be expected to work flexibly across the County in order to manage the service and team members.

About the person

You will be a suitably qualified NMC registered nurse who is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people and supporting communities to improve health outcomes for families. You will have experience of managing and supervising staff and delivering a range of evidence-based psychosocial and clinical interventions to children and young people around substance misuse and mental health and emotional wellbeing. You will also have an in depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation and issues.
