Health & Wellbeing Nurse Team Leader
Lewisham Young People’s Health & Wellbeing Service
Salary circa £41,500 (inc. LWA)
Full-time - 37 hrs
Do you have the experience and drive to ensure we improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Lewisham?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Wellbeing Nurse Team Leader to join our Lewisham Young People’s Health & Wellbeing Service.
Commissioned by the London Borough of Lewisham, we provide a highly innovative service, delivering a range of evidence-based interventions to young people aged 10-19 (up to 25 for Looked After Children, those leaving care or with SEND), with a focus on emotional health and wellbeing, substance misuse and sexual health.
Our aim is to create an integrated and easily accessible service that enables young people to manage their own health and wellbeing either independently or with support to reduce the likelihood of escalation to specialist services.
About the role
As Nurse Team Leader, you will lead on safe and effective delivery of clinical interventions including medicines management for oral contraception and chlamydia treatment, pregnancy and STI testing. You will provide group and 1-1 clinical supervision to the skill mix team, supporting the service manager with day to day operational requirements, including resource allocation and safeguarding.
You will provide professional consultation across the wider children and families network across Lewisham, including workforce development training for health promotion.
It is anticipated that the role will have an 80/20 split of management responsibility and front line caseload activities in order to maintain competency levels and support revalidation.
Working both on an outreach basis and from the clinical base in Catford, you will work closely with partner agencies to ensure equitable service delivery to all young people.
Will involve occasional evening/Saturday working.
You will be a registered nurse, with a specialism in sexual health, who is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people and supporting communities to improve health outcomes for families. You will have experience of managing and supervising staff and providing clinical support to a skill mix team.
This post is supported by the organisational lead nurse.
In return, we offer a range of benefits including:
Generous annual leave • Employee Assistance Programme and OH Service • Eye tests for VDU users • Excellent learning & development opportunities and career progression • Generous contributory Pension Scheme
