We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Young People’s Nurse to join our team of dedicated professionals as part of a truly innovative and responsive service that is committed to improving young people’s long-term health and wellbeing.
Compass REACH is a nurse-led service that delivers evidence-based psychosocial interventions to children and young people aged 9 – 19 (up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) who live in North Yorkshire.
It is the specialist young people’s drug and alcohol treatment provider for young people who have been screened as having moderate or high levels of need with regard to substance misuse/alcohol.
The service also works with children and young people who may benefit from receiving early help and prevention work in relation to emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.
Our team of qualified nurses can also deliver work to existing service users around sexual health matters.
About the role
As a Young People’s Nurse, your role will be to help young people to make sustainable lifestyle changes and to deliver a range of interventions that will improve their health and wellbeing, reduce risk to themselves and others, and equip them to reach their potential.
You will operate out of the Prevention HUB in Northallerton, covering the Hambleton and Richmondshire cluster and you will be expected to work flexibly across the region when required to meet service demand and provide interim cover for other staff members.
About the person
You will be a suitably qualified NMC registered nurse who is experienced in working with vulnerable and hard to reach young people and skilled in supporting and encouraging individuals to achieve positive changes. You will have detailed knowledge of substance misuse risks and treatment and an in depth understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
