Since its launch in 2012 Compass REACH has been helping young people to address their substance misuse, sexual health and risk taking behaviour in order to support them in making sustainable lifestyle changes that improve their long term health, resilience and emotional wellbeing, reduce risk to themselves and others and equip them to succeed in mainstream services, assisting them to reach their potential.
Having recently been successfully awarded the ‘targeted’ element of the Healthy Child Programme the service is about to enter a new and energising phase in relation to the care and support that it can offer young service users. This will be delivered alongside Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT) who will be providers of the Core Healthy Child Programme.
Compass REACH will remain a county wide service that offers both psychosocial and clinical interventions to young people who are involved in risk taking behaviours relating to substance misuse and poor sexual health. From 1st April 2015 the service will still provide this vital service but it will increase its provision to offer support around emotional wellbeing and mental health as well. It will also extend it services to a lower age range of young people; therefore the service will work with 9 – 19 years old (up to 25 with a learning disability) who have a residing postcode within the county of North Yorkshire excluding the City of York.
The Compass REACH team wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to continue working with our existing partners and are looking forward to forging new and dynamic relationships.
