KISS (Keep it Safe and Sustainable)
Nestle’s Human Resources department has helped employees to receive support for drug and alcohol related from Compass York for many years. In 2010, Nestle approached Compass to be more involved in promoting staff wellbeing with the aim of helping individuals affected by their own or someone else’s drug/alcohol use.
This month, Compass York supported a two day event at the Nestle factory where employees were able to visit stands set up to provide information, advice and support. The event was also supported by North Yorkshire Fire Service and York Council’s Road Safety Officer.
Compass staff worked to dispel myths around the client group accessing services and discussed the range of services available in the York area. Staff promoted ease of access, confidential services, early interventions and recovery focused approaches.
Over the course of the two days around 100 individuals accessed information about Compass with many taking away harm reduction information on a variety of substances. Others took contact information for families they knew were struggling with substance misuse related issues.
Angela Waite, Compass Recovery Service Manager, said “KISS was a really worthwhile way of increasing awareness of the support and referral pathways available for people in the City of York.”
Compass is happy to support or advise employers as necessary, supporting events, providing service information and in developing referral pathways. For further information please contact:
