The Milton Keynes Young People’s Service has launched FADS, a new support group for young people affected by another’s substance misuse.

FADS was developed as a result of service user feedback and in direct response to the rising number of referrals from young people’s affected by another’s substance misuse locally.

Young people defined what they wanted to achieve by attending FADS, how often these sessions should take place and agreed some ground rules. They were keen to use FADS as an opportunity to share experiences with their peers, gaining support from themselves and Compass workers at the same time. Compass staff are now working with youth clubs to provide the best possible environment in which young people can meet and socialise.

The group is now supported by Milton Keynes Young Carers and Milton Keynes Children’s Services and widely publicised.
